The most important part of my work is the dialogue with clients, with empathy, warm humor, understanding their cultural identity and engaging them at a personal level easing the process of adjusting to life’s challenges. While I found that life experience provides us with many tools and skills to confront typical daily challenges, anyone can encounter overwhelming problems at any age. I focus on my client’s strengths and skills, considering all aspects of their lives, to help them achieve their goals in a safe and confidential environment.
I draw from different therapeutic approaches and customize treatment for individuals or couples. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples.
I completed an Advance Trauma Training. I see clients virtually or in person.
I am licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland and DC. I am bilingual English- Spanish. I have experience working with clients from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and cultural identities that are experiencing life transition, mood disorder, anxiety, relationship issues, and others. Over the years I have worked in both public and private agencies, as well as my independent practice. Initially the focus of my work was on children and families, but over the years I realized that working with adults and couples had the biggest impact in the life of families.
I look forward to working with you.
